The Bag With the 50,000-Person Waitlist is Finally Here
It’s not very often that a hit bag comes along. In the last few years, we can look to Mansur Gavriel’s Bucket Bag ($595) and Linjer’s Tulip Bag ($525), which built up enormous waitlist and were known for their frenzied restocking events. Oh, and don’t forget Cult Gaia’s Ark bag ($168), whose unique architectural design inspired dozens of copycats and can be seen on the arms of almost every woman who wants to brand herself as an influencer.
Could Linjer be on the cusp of another hit bag? The numbers to say it all: Linjer’s Doctor’s Bag is it.
The Norwegian brand and design studio (which we have written about before) initially released The Doctor’s Bag in 2015 on Kickstarter. The design was inspired by a (real) doctor’s bag that the designers had seen in a vintage shop in Paris. They adapted it to fit modern-day life, with a cute push lock and shoulder strap.
The Kickstarter campaign (which included several other bag designs) was a huge success, raising 2.9 million Norwegian kroners (~$352,000 USD). But after selling out of The Doctor’s Bag almost immediately, Linjer faced supply chain difficulties and had to take the bag out of stock.
Happily, the Doctor’s Bag re-emerged earlier this year, in improved leather (an environmentally-friendly Italian leather) and a smaller size. According to InStyle, it had garnered a waitlist of 50,000 people before launch. They sold out repeatedly, but supply seems to be more steady now.
Linjer is a direct-to-consumer brand that produces in luxury factories but sells only on its website. Priced at $345 USD, this adorable little bag—made with Italian leather, no less—is really good value.
The bag hasn’t made the rounds on Instagram yet so if you’re looking for a cute bag that nobody else seems to have yet, you know where to find it!
