The secret handbag brand loved by Hollywood celebs

Just please don’t call them a fashion label.

Everyone loves a good handbag, and celebrities are no different. Given that not many of us can afford to drop $10,000 on a Birkin bag, we’re always happy to see celebrities carrying independent brands at accessible price tags.

One such brand is Linjer, whose beautiful sub-$500 bags have been seen on the arms and ‘grams of Jessica Alba, Amy Adams, Brie Larson, Jenna Fischer, Rachel McAdams, Amber Heard, Rashida Jones, Irina Shayk, and many more.

Jenna Fischer shares an Instagram story about receiving a Soft Tote she ordered from Linjer ($359).

What is Linjer?

Linjer is an independent design studio owned by Roman Khan and Jennifer Chong. The studio has Norwegian roots - Khan is from Oslo - and their M.O. is to make watches and bags at luxury standards, but at far more accessible price points.

Since they started in 2014, their products have quietly gained a cult-like following among certain early adopter types and style cognoscenti. Their bag and watch collections have collectively crowdfunded more than $3 million, and The Wirecutter and Business Insider hail their Soft Briefcase and their watches as best in class. Or maybe you might have heard about the Tulip mania that they sparked last year when they launched their their iconic Tulip Bag.

Hot as they may be, the designers bristle at being called a fashion label.

“We don’t consider ourselves fashion people. Nowadays, there’s so little attention to quality and sustainability in the fashion industry,” says, Khan.

“We just want to make beautiful things that last and that aren’t crazy expensive. Quality is paramount for us, and we’re so serious about it that all of our leather bags have a lifetime warranty.”

Linjer’s secret sauce is their supply chain. They work with the same suppliers as luxury brands, but sell exclusively through their website (www.linjer.co), which allows them to do away with the huge markups typically seen in other luxury bags. Some of their most popular bags are The Tulip Bag ($525+), The Doctor’s Bag ($345), The Crossbody Purse ($349), and The Soft Tote ($359).

“If you’re used to buying luxury products, our bags probably seem like a steal,” Khan tells us about their pricing. “if you’re used to fast fashion, the price feels like a stretch up, but it’s actually going to last more than one season. It’s something that will be with you for years.”

Their strategy seem to be working, as their handbags constantly sell out. Best to grab one before the secret gets out!

Linjer’s bags, like The Mini, routinely build up waitlists of thousands of people before they release.
